You said it, 'eye-popping visuals'... It is spectacular and creative and impossible to forget. The uniqueness of this style of animation I think was underrated and I for one think should have been given more recognition as well.

Also influential. A lot of animated movies are trying to do similar things to this and Into the Spider-Verse now.

Just when I think I've escaped the grasp this film has over me, I'm sucked right back in! Nicely written!

I must admit, I much preferred the first film. I have only seen the sequel once. Perhaps I will appreciate it more with a rewatch.

Great review.

The first movie is also pretty great. The second one just leveled up for me. Definitely worth a rewatch.

Thanks!

That rooftop conversation between Miles and his mom made me tear up. A superhero movie that understands parenthood better than most prestige dramas, animated in a style no one had ever seen before, with a coming-of-age story that works for the kid and the parent simultaneously. It has me shouting 'masterpiece!' in the theater as the credits rolled.

I'm right there with you! It's amazing how on point the movie with the parent perspective while successfully spinning all the other plates at the same time.
